For five years, Handmade Mysteries became synonymous with high-quality, narrative driven escape rooms across London and Brighton’s finest historical pubs. Games like ‘Lady Chastity’s Reserve’ gained critical acclaim and attracted thousands of player seeking unique experiences.
When the COVID-19 pandemic challenged traditional entertainment venues, James saw an opportunity to innovate. Drawing on his expertise in immersive gaming and deep understanding of the hospitality industry, he developed a revolutionary new concept: portable table top adventure games tailored to pub offerings that could bring the excitement of escape rooms directly to pub tables.

David is an undisputed veteran in the field, poised to take immersive experiences to new heights.

James has spent over eight years at the forefront of the escape room industry, founding and running Deadlocked Escape Rooms. A pioneer in the field, he led the creation of the world’s first digital escape room and has continued to push boundaries ever since. Known at Deadlocked as the “Director of Making Things Work,” James designs and codes the technology that powers both award-winning physical and digital games.
Beyond escape rooms, James is the author of the Escape Room Puzzles book series, including collaborations with Ubisoft (Assassin’s Creed Escape Room Puzzles) and the BBC (Radio 1 & BBC One’s Big Summer Break Out). With a background in film production and immersive theatre, he brings a deep passion for storytelling and atmosphere to everything he builds. At Hyper Real Games, James oversees digital production, ensuring every experience feels seamless, innovative, and truly immersive.

Dave Neale brings a decade of commercial storytelling expertise to transform pub gaming into cinematic entertainment. As founder of Brighton based video agency Wild stag Studio, he has delivered compelling visual content for major brands including BBC, Red Bull, and Penguin Randomhouse. Now, he’s applying his craft to immersive experiences to really bring the players' into cinematic worlds. His role encompasses all visual storytelling and production, ensuring each game delivers the quality and engagement that today’s experience seeking audiences expect.
